Weekend Subway Changes for July 6-7

Service Changes:

A Division: 

South Ferry bound 1 Train are bypassing 86th Street and 79 Street, Manhattan.

2 Trains are not running between Wakefield-241 Street and East 180 Street, Bronx. 2 Trains will be reroute via the 5 line from East 180 Street to Eastchester-Dyer Avenue, Bronx. 

In Brooklyn, New Lots Av-bound 3 Trains runs express from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to Crown Hts-Utica Av. 

5 Trains in the Bronx will terminate at East 180th Street so 2 Trains will fill in the Dyer Avenue Line for 5 service.

In the Bronx, Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 skips Parkchester. 

6 Trains operates in two sections:
1. Between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and 149 Street- Grand Concourse 
2. Between 125 St and Pelham Bay Park. 

B Division: 

In Upper Manhattan, A Trains runs local in both directions between 168 St and 59 St-Columbus

Circle. 

In Brooklyn, Manhattan-bound B Trains skips Bay 50 St and 25 Av. 

In Manhattan, uptown C Trains skips Spring St, 23 St and 50 St. 

In Manhattan, D Trains runs local in both directions between 59 St-Columbus Circle and 145 St. 

In Manhattan, downtown E Trains runs via the F line from W 4 St to 2 Av. And Uptown E Trains runs via the F line from 2 Av to 47-50 Sts, resuming service at 5 Av/53 St. 

F Trains will terminate at Church Avenue, Brooklyn. 

No G trains between Bedford-Nostrand Avs, Brooklyn and Court Sq, Queens. 

In Brooklyn, Coney Island-bound N Trains runs local from DeKalb Av to 59 St. 

Franklin Av Shuttle is replaced by free shuttle buses.

Weekend Subway Map for Feb 3-4, 2024

 Good evening people, here I'm doing a NYC weekend subway map. These are the major changes for the weekend service so be prepared to travel across New York City accordingly. Plus my birthday is Sunday, February 4th. 

This Weekend Major Changes: 

2 Trains for suspended between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College. 2 train runs between the Bronx and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and via the 3 to/from Crown Hts-Utica Av. 2 trains in Manhattan, runs local in both directions between 34 St-Penn Station and Chambers St. 

2 trains will not run between Gun Hill Road and Wakefield 241 Street, Bronx from 

• Feb 3 - 4, Sat 3:45 AM to Sun 10:00 PM

3 trains service is fully suspended. 

4 Trains replace 3 train service between Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and New Lots Avenue all weekend. 

A trains will run local from 145th Street to 59th Street- Columbus Circle, Manhattan. 

E trains will run via the F line from Kew Gardens- Union Turnpike to Jamaica-179th Street, Queens all weekend. Plus Queens bound trains will run on the F line in Manhattan as well. 

B trains will run from via the N line in from Canal Street to 57th Street-7th Avenue, Manhattan with local trains via 4th Avenue Line in Brooklyn. 

D train are suspended from Norwood 205th Street to 161st Yankee Stadium, Bronx. While Bronx bound trains will run local from 59th Street to 145th Street, Manhattan. 

As for the F train they will not be running from Church Avenue to Coney Island- Stillwell Avenue, Brooklyn so take the B, D or N trains. Plus Queens bound trains will run via the 63rd Street Line with the E. 

G Trains will be running into two sections. One from Court Square, Queens to Bedford- Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn. And between Bedford-Nostrand Avenue to Hoyt Schermerhorn Street, Brooklyn so for service between Bergen Street and Church Avenue take the F train. 

R Trains will run via the Manhattan Bridge from Canal Street, Manhattan to Dekalb Avenue, Brooklyn. 

So for next weekend's service changes I will include minor changes as well so stay tuned.

Spring Temperature Averages for Every U.S State

 The temperatures are state-wide averages calculated from temperatures recorded during the months of March, April and May.

Spring temperature averages range from a high of 70.7 degrees Fahrenheit (21.5 degrees Celsius) in Florida to a low of 26.2°F (-3.2°C) in Alaska. For the entire United States, excluding Hawaii and Alaska, the season averages 52.2 °F (11.2 °C).

March temperatures:

The first month of spring starts off cold in the northern states like Maine, Alaska and Minnesota where temperatures are still well below freezing. The Mid-Atlantic states have high temperatures in the 50°s, temperatures in the 70s and 80s are more common in the Southern US states like Texas, Louisiana and Florida. The Rockies like Colorado and Wyoming can expect heavy snow and below freezing temperatures. The southwest like Arizona and New Mexico are very dry in March with average high temperatures in the upper 50s in the mountains to mid 70s to low 80s in the deserts. Rainfall in California and Oregon starts to dwindle down a little and average high temperatures ranges from upper 40s/low 50s in Northern California and most of Oregon to the upper 70s/low 80s in California's Mojave Desert. In northern Alaska average temperatures are still below zero in the first 14 days in March to mid 40s are Juneau and Ketchikan in late March.

April temperatures:

April is a pleasant spring month for most of the United States. There are still relatively cold spots in April like Northern Maine, Northern Minnesota and most of Alaska the sun is up from 13 to 14 hours for most of the US. In North Alaska the sun is up for over 18 hours in late April. Temperatures in the southeastern US starts to get very warm to hot with 80s common and do reach above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.  The Northeast is cool to pleasant with temperatures in the mid 50s to mid 60s common sometimes reaching above 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The central plains like Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma have average high temperatures in the low 70s to low 80s in April temperatures reaching at or above 90 degrees Fahrenheit are quite rare. The southwestern US are warm to hot in April. Temperatures in California, Arizona and Texas can be above 90s sometimes hitting the century mark. For Alaska the Interior like Fairbanks have average high temperatures start in the mid 30s in the first week of April to the low/mid 50s in late April. Average low temperature in Alaska ranged from 5 degrees in the North Slope Alaska to around 40 degrees Fahrenheit in Juneau and Ketchikan. 

May temperatures:

May is the warmest spring month in the United States of America. Temperatures in May are very comfortable for the majority of the US. The hottest spots in May are in Florida and the deserts southwestern states. High temperatures in Texas, Arizona, California and southern New Mexico as well in southern Nevada are often 90 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit with low humidity and nighttime temperatures are between 60 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit, a few spots in California and Texas can have nighttime temperatures around 80°F. The southeast can also be hot with mid 80s sometimes mid 90s with higher humidity during the day and 65°F to 75°F at night. The Northeast is warm in May with average high temperatures in the 70s during the day and 50s during the night. The Northwestern US really starts drying up in May with average high temperatures in the mid 60s to mid 70s with temperatures occasionally surpassing the mid 80s. The Midwest states like Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska and Illinois have high temperatures mostly in the 70s but in rare cases over 90 degrees Fahrenheit. In Alaska average high temperatures ranges from upper 20s in Utqiagvik formerly known as Barrow, Alaska to the low/mid 60s in the eastern Interior Alaska.

The temperatures are based on data collected by weather stations throughout each state during the years 1991 to 2020 and made available by the NOAA National Climatic Data Center of the United States.

The average temperatures during spring for every state in the US are listed below in degrees Fahrenheit and Celsius. The states are also ranked from the hottest state in spring at number 1 to the coldest state at number 50.

Fastest Warming Places in the United States

The Southwestern US, Mid Atlantic and Alaska are among the fastest warming places in the country in the last 50 years. Some places in New Mexico and Alaska have seen a yearly temperature jump of 4 degrees Fahrenheit since the 1970s. Summer temperatures in the Southwest and winter/autumn temperatures in Alaska have the strongest warming in US. Worsening drought conditions in the southwestern US and rapid sea ice lost around Alaska are the causes of rapid temperatures increases over the last few decades. 

Here is the 50-year temperature trend by Alaska's climatologist Brian Brettschneider, in spring across in US. The most noticeable warming places in the last 50 years are northern and western Alaska, Arizona, New Mexico, southwest Colorado and parts of Utah, Nevada and California. The north central US had spring temperature cooled by 1 degree Fahrenheit in the last 50 years.

U.S States that are likely to break all time record high temperatures in the 2020s

Its the start of Summer and temperatures in many U.S States are cranking up towards the 100°F (38°C) mark with many record daily high temperatures being broken. In Bismarck, North Dakota on Friday, June 5 hit a high temperature of 106°F (41°C) this broke the old June 5 record of 95F (35°C) set in 1988. North Dakota and other Midwestern are forecast to be in the 90°Fs and 100°Fs for early June. But no all time state records will be broken for a while. The last time a state broke an all time record high was in Colorado in July 2019 when it reached 115°F (46°C) in the southeastern part of the state. 

It may comes as a surprise that several Midwestern states reached 120°F (49°C) or above especially in North Dakota's reading of 122 degrees Fahrenheit which happened during the 1930s Dust Bowl. An exceptional drought hit the Midwest forcing temperatures to reach over 100 degrees for weeks in the summer. Yearly high temperatures over 115 degrees can be expected in southwestern states like Arizona, California and New Mexico. According to Climate Central between 1970-2019 (50 years) several US state have warmed over 3 degrees Fahrenheit. And states like New Mexico, Arizona, New Jersey, Delaware and Rhode Island summer temps have warmed by 4 degrees plus since 1970 which makes these states more likely to break all time record high temperatures in the near future. Keep in mind that many US States still hold their all time record high temperature before the year 2000. 

These are the US States that are likely to exceed an all time record high temperature (greater then 40% chance) before 2030. 

#1 Utah: 

The Beehive State can have a torrid summer Utah mean summer temperature 70°F (1991-2020 average) and 85°F mean summer high temperature. Utah have cool summer night time low temp due to the state's high elevation of 6,100ft and it's arid climate. But during the day summer temperatures can be very hot. 100 degree temperatures occur 10-30 days per year at elevated below 5,000 feet. The higher recorded temp in Utah was 117°F (47°C) in St. George on July 5, 1985. St. George is in the southwest part of the state I few mile from the Utah-Arizona border and summer high temperatures average over 100 in July and August. Utah is due to break an all time record high very soon. 

#2 Alaska: 

Alaska is the coldest yet fastest warming state in the US. According to Climate Central yearly temperatures in Alaska has warmed 4.3 degrees Fahrenheit in the last 50 years and summer is the slowest warming season for Alaska with a 3°F (1.7°C) increase in the last 50 years. In 2019 the state was in the midst of an exceptional summer, July 2019 was Alaska's warmest month of 58.1°F (14°C) Anchorage, Alaska's largest city hit 90°F (32°C) for the first time ever on July 4th broke the previous all time record high of 85°F (29°C). The hottest record temperature in Alaska is 100°F in Fort Yukon on June 27, 1915 yes 1915 not 2019. Fort Yukon is located in the northeast Interior Alaska which daytime high in the summer is among the hottest in Alaska. Summer temperatures can be from 85°-95°F in any given summer in the Interior.  Alaska is likely to brake over 100 degree before 2030 the state is among the fastest warming in the US.

This so-called biggest state in America (really 2nd to Alaska) has its fear share of reaching over 100 degrees during the summer.  Texas is by far the warmest state in the country during the summer with a mean summer temperature of 82°F (28°C). Texas is a big state with desert and semi arid areas in the west and wet areas averaging over 50 inches of rain in the east. In areas in West Texas summer temperatures can exceed 110 degrees five to ten days per year rivaling low elevation deserts in New Mexico, Arizona and California. The highest temperature recorded in Texas was 120 degrees on June 28, 1994 in Monahans. Summer temperatures in Texas have increased by 3.8 degrees since 1970 so Texas is due to break an all time heat record.

The Garden State is among the fastest warming in the country. Summer temperatures New Jersey have increased by four degrees Fahrenheit since 1970. And since 2010 torrid days above 95°F (35°C) have increased by 10 days since the 1970s and overnight low of 75°F (24°C) also increased by 10 days since the 1970s. On July 2011 Newark in northern New Jersey  reached 103, 108 and 102 degrees on July 21, 22 and 23 respectively amid a very strong heat wave at bombarded the Northeastern US. The hottest temperature recorded in New Jersey was 110°F on July 10, 1936 amid the Dust Bowl. New Jersey can expect a reading of 111°F or above before 2030.

    The Land of Enchantment is the 2nd fastest warming state in the US after Alaska and highest daily temperatures in this state can routinely exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the late spring to early autumn. New Mexico is a hot and dry state with occasional monsoons in the summertime which can lower daytime temperatures. According to Climate Central New Mexico average summer temperature have increased by 4.5 degrees Fahrenheit in the last fifty years the high increase in the country. New Mexico average summer temperature is 72.4°F (22.4°C) seems cool compared to Texas but daytime highs in southern and southeast New Mexico exceeds 100 degrees 25-40 days per year. The hottest temperature recorded in New Mexico was 122°F (50°C) on June 27, 1994 in Loving. Summer 2020 was the state's hottest summer and Roswell recorded 65 days above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. New Mexico is very likely to exceed 122 degrees before 2030 and the state has been in a multi year severe drought makes it very likely.

Like New Mexico, Arizona can also have temperatures surpassing 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer.  Phoenix the state capital averages 110 days of triple digit heat and 18-25 days at or above 110°F. The highest temperature every record in Arizona was 128°F on June 29, 1994 in Lake Havasu City in western part of the state. It's likely that somewhere in Arizona to surpass the 128°F reading before 2030, summers are getting warmer in Arizona and according to Climate Central summer temperatures was risen by 4.2 degrees in the last 50 years. 

My take on Super Smash Bros character weight value

One of my favorite videos games growing up playing was the Super Smash Bros series. Super Smash Bros has a amazing element of Nintendo characters of different universes coming together to fight it out from Mario, Kirby, Pokemon, Star Fox, Fire Emblem and many other Nintendo series. 

One thing about the Smash Bros series I'm interested in is the character's weight and percentages meter. Weight in the Smash Bros series is a measurement of how much a character/fighter can resist knockback.

 Weight is one of several factors used in calculating the amount of knockback a fighter experiences. Fighters with a high weight (heavyweight fighter ) tend to suffer less knockback (most endurance), and fighters with low weight (lightweight) tend to suffer the most knockback (less endurance). The damage percentage meter in Smash Bros goes from 0% to 999% the higher the number the more a character gets knocked back from an attack.

The weight classes in series are lightweight e.g. Kirby and Jigglypuff, middleweight  e.g. Mario and Link, heavyweight  e.g. Samus and Ganondorf and super-heavyweight e.g. Bowser and Donkey Kong.

While these four characters above do seem to belong in the right weight classes there are many others fighters that do not seem to be in the right weight class in regard to their size, height and bodyweight.

One example is Fox McCloud, Fox in the first Smash Bros game (Super Smash Bros 64) has a weight code of 100 points which is the same as Mario and Luigi which is classified as middleweight out of 12 fighters in that  game. Later in Melee, Fox is much lighter than Mario and Luigi at a weight code of 75 points, while Mario and Luigi retain their weight. Fox in Melee is lighter than Pikachu who has a weight code of 72.4 points in 64 and has a weight code of 80 points in Melee. Since Melee, Fox has been a lightweight with a weight code from 75 to 80 points. Fox McCloud in canon is 5'8ft (173 centimeters) and 155lbs (70.3kg) which is similar to an average real human adult male. In Ultimate, Sheik a tall athletic woman has a weight code of only 78 points which is lower than Isabelle (88 points), Kirby and Pikachu (79 points) which completely does not make any sense. Link who fights with a shield and sword has always been as heavy as Captain Falcon who is over 6ft (183 centimeters) and over 200lbs (91kg) without that shield and sword Link would likely be as heavy as Mario or maybe be a little lighter.
